Fearlessly Authentic

Riverstone Family Dental is just shy of being 2 months old. My hands are now pulling teeth out instead of peeling away skirting tape!! Everyday I come to work knowing there’s nowhere I’d rather be and nothing I’d rather be doing. I actually sat down the other day and brainstormed where I’d rather be and for the first time in a long time, I couldn’t come up with anything. The greatest consequence of being fearlessly authentic is you position yourself in the path of the right opportunities for you. By being yourself, you save alot of time and effort in not pursuing wasted opportunities and dead ends. You speed up the process of actually getting what you want in life. Becoming fearlessly authentic requires introspection, bravery and confidence. You need these because if cynics try to stop or undermine you, you will continue nonetheless.

I enjoy sharing my dental knowledge, as exemplified through my blogging.

What’s the point of knowledge if you cannot use it to enrich people’s lives? Whether it be my patients or colleagues – I love knowing that I have helped them improve their understanding of oral health and managing their patients. The fact that I have hands that function, knowledge that grows and a community that supports me is more than a lot of people have. I am grateful for every encounter, meeting and treatment I can conduct to the best of my ability – gratitude is the most important trait when it comes to life fulfilment. We must always be grateful.

The Tooth Stand

Riverstone Family Dental’s Tooth Stand at Riverstone Festival was an absolute hit! A special mention to Phyllis McAlpine for all her help and for tremendously organising this wonderful event. I am so happy that I had the chance to get to know members of the community and introduce myself and my new clinic. I was able to address common queries and educate members of my community on oral health. Following the festival, three recipients of the lucky draw were able to have much needed dental treatment for free. They were so grateful they had the opportunity to attend to dental treatment that they needed but didn’t have the time or money to have it done. I look forward to spending decades treating patients in my community of Riverstone.

Bear Cottage Fundraiser

An enormous thank you to everyone who donated to the Bear Cottage. We reached our target and managed to donate just over $500 towards this amazing cause. I was extremely touched by patients who made an effort and even dressed up as a superhero! As someone who works in healthcare, I hear about the daily challenges that many families face. Often, I find myself awe-struck by the challenges that some kids face so early on in their life. I am certain that the greatest superheroes I have ever met are the kids that I have seen in my clinic. Despite many health issues, they can smile, make jokes and keep on top of their dental health. Raising money for Bear Cottage was something I really wanted to do. I have observed at the Westmead Children’s Hospital dental clinic and Royal Far West and believe it is important to support specialised services for children. One day when I’m raising my own kids I’d like to look back and see how I’ve contributed to the improvement in other kids’ health.

Well that’s a wrap folks! I strive to be a caring, family dentist – read more about me here.

Hope you enjoyed this little update. If you have any ideas for how we can be more involved, I would love to hear it: zena@riverstonefamilydental.com.au
